Pavi T'Challa's big vacation.

Nigel & Bob try their best to stay perfectlly still when Leviathan snoffed as them. Pavi possiblly was just as scared as the driver. As she has seen a friend of hers dinosaur escape, Kristoff's Giganotosaurus, Goliath. She was just as scared back then as she is right now.

Not interested in Bob or Nigel, he now moves to sniff at Pavi. With deep, snorting sniffs, he picks up the scent of Mikey who is hiding inside Pavi's jacket. Leviathan now starts to sniff quicker, interested in the new scent of the little Microraptor hiding out of sight for the moment. The giant theropod pushes Pavi slightly with his large jaws, letting out a very low growl. Trying to figure out where the scent is, Leviathan looks down with his grayish-yellow eyes, looking right down at the Pavi.

Pavi sweats in fear as Leviathan sniffs her, knowing he's smelling Mikey, who keeps himself hidden from the massive theropod. Pavi continues to barely shiver Go away go away go away! she thought as she is sniffed by Leviathan. >~<

Bakker glances over and sees Leviathan sniffing Pavi, he knows that he has caught the scent of Mikey. If he finds him, he will most likely see him as a food source, which means he will also attack Pavi. Moving his right hand slowly towards the door beside him, he hits it with his hand twice. The theropod turns his head away from Pavi and Mikey, but he is now sniffing Bakker. Bakker knows that he will recognize Bakker's scent, but he fears that he may bite him like he did in his younger days, only this time he won't get away.

Nigel & Bob eyes Bakker as he does this, still not moving their heads as they hear Bakker do this, thinking the same as him, knowing if Mikey was seen, he would've been eaten, & Pavi would've been attacked.

"I can't take it" exclaims the driver. He steps on the gas peddle and the jeep's tires push dirt up before it starts to go forward. Leviathan watches briefly before he starts to chase the jeep. The driver tries to shift to four-wheel-drive, but when he does, the jeep loses speed and Leviathan is close behind. "Oh God please" says the driver as the car slowly gains speed. Leviathan roars as he starts to cath up to the jeep, which has only now just reached 25 miles per hour. But then, the jeep hits a fallen log and Bakker's door is flung open, causing him to fall out onto the side of the jeep trail. Leviathan runs right past him, but he does notice him and begins to come to a stop. Bakker looks up and sees that Leviathan is now looking right at him.

"ROBERT!" D8> Pavi cries as she sees this & is horrified, placing her hands over her mouth. Bob looks on, "LOOK OUT MR BAKKER!" he shouted as he saw Leviathan heading for him. Nigel looks on as he comes up with an idea & prepares to actually jump off the jeep to go help Bakker.
"Nigel! Are you crazy?!" Bob says, seeing this.
"I need to help Robert, you 2 just head back to the facility & stay safe!" Nigel says as he does the unthinkable, he jumps out of the jeep. Good thing he found a flare to use on the jeep, he runs to Bakker & readies the flare!, "HEY! HEY! OVER HERE!" he shouted, waving the flare like alan Grant did in Jurassic Park!

Leviathan turns and roars as he sees Nigel holding a flare. Now the focus of the massive predator, Nigel is in a dangerous situation. "Nigel, what are you doing, get out of here" yells Bakker. Leviathan then charges towards Nigel, running at full speed, mouth agape and roaring violently.

"C'mon, clooser, clooseeeer." Nigel says as Leviathan charged him. He got close enough & Nigel threw the flare as far as he could & rolled under Leviathan & rushed to Bakker, "Come on, he'll be focused on the flare a bit more." he says as he lead Bakker to cover.!

Bakker and Nigel run away as Leviathan briefly stares at the flare, but upon realizing that it isn't a food source, he turns and starts to follow the two men. As Nigel and Bakker run into the forests, Bakker looks back to see if the carnivore is chasing them. Leviathan crashes through the tree line, roaring as he catches up to them. Bakker looks around and sees a denser part of the forest ahead of them, but they might not be able to outrun Leviathan. "Nigel, head for the thicker forests just ahead" yells Bakker".

Nigel hears Bakker & rushes to the thicker part of the forest. Knowing Leviathan maybe too large to fit through here. Nigel looks back to see Leviathan not able to still chase them because of the thickness of the forest, "I think we lost him, finally." he says.

Bakker looks back as well and he sees Leviathan running towards them still. However, as he gets to the forest line, his jaws and neck past between two trees, but the rest of his body is too bulky to get through the thick forest. Like a natural barrier, the trees in close proximity to one another, keep the four ton predator at bay, despite him pushing and shoving against the trees. Roaring in anger, he stops just for a moment, looking right at Nigel and Bakker before he bellows at them and pulls out from between the trees. He begins to walk off, but roars a final time as he does so.

Nigel saw that Leviathan walked off with a final roar & sighed in releif as he turned to Bakker, "You alright, Robert?" he asked.

Meanwhile, Pavi & Bob return to the facility as Pavi rushed to one of the workers, "Please, you need to help us."
"Yes, Robert Bakker & Nigel Marven are in the reserve, a carnivore named Leviathan chased us & Robert fell out, him & Nigel are in the middle of the reserve." Bob says.

"Oh yes, I am alright" says Bakker. Bakker looks around and sees that the sun is setting. "This won't be too good, but if we don't make some shelter before nightfall, then we may end up on the menu for some other theropod dinosaur". "There is a rocky cluster about a mile or two away from where we are now...it will take us farther away from the facility, but with Leviathan prowling around, I think we should just stay there for the rest of the day".

"Yes, agreed." Nigel says, "Then let's get moving." he says as he follows Bakker.

The rangers nod at Pavi & Bob as they get to work on trying to locate, "There is a Torosaurus here!" shouted one of them. Pavi looks & recognizes it, "Hey, it's Toro." she says & rushes out to Toro, "Toro! Oh thank goodness you escaped." she says patting the ceratopsian's nose, who grunts softlly at Pavi.

Nigel and Bakker now begin their trek to the rocky shelter that is about a mile or two away from them. Knowing that Leviathan could be around the facility, they will be taking their chances by staying out on the reserve without any technology to aid them. Their decision carries a number of grave risks; they could be attack by other species of theropod dinosaurs or aggressive herbivorous dinosaurs, not to mention the native African wildlife like the Egyptian cobra and legendary black mamba. Despite these factors, the two continue on their way to find the shelter of rocks...though it is no five star hotel, its better than staying out in the open surrounded by all kinds of dinosaurs.

As they trek their way to the rock shelter, Nigel spots a flock of friendlly dinosaurs foraging & grazing on the vegettiaon nearby, "Robert, I see some Hypsilophodon about 30 yards away." he whispered, pointing to the flock of Hypsilophodons.

Bakker sees the great flock of Hypsilophodon that Nigel spotted. Nearly a dozen of these small herbivores are feeding on the vegetation around a sparse area of trees and ferns. "These are pretty common dinosaurs on the reserve, they are prey for a number of medium and small theropods, but these are quick dinosaurs...so they usually escape the jaws of a predator" says Bakker. They continue on, seeing the little Hypsilophodons run nearby for about ten minutes before they head off in a different direction.
After about an hour, Nigel and Bakker are getting close to the rock shelter. As they walk on, Bakker spots some movement among the bushes ahead of them. "Hang on Nigel, we have something running about in the bushes ahead" whispers Bakker.

Nigel smiles as he continues to walk with Bakker. An hour later, he can hear the bushes rattling & stops, "What is it?" Nigel whispered as he stopped next to Bakker looking on, wondering what it is, almost reminding him of his 1st prehistoric rescue when a flock of Ornithomimus's did the same thing once.

From the bushes, three small dinosaurs just six feet long run out into the open.
Bakker laughs a little, worried that they were predatory dinosaurs, but now he see that they are just small herbivores. "Nigel, these are Oryctodromeus, a small ornithopod from the middle Cretaceous period" says Bakker. "These are very unique because these are burrowing dinosaurs, the dig burrows and they raise their young in them...they also eat roots and tubers that are under the ground, as well as ferns above ground". The little dinosaurs run around playfully, not even noticing the two men barely fifteen feet away from them.

Nigel's hunch was right, they were nothing but small herbivores, he chuckles at the sight of the 3 little dinosaurs & hears Bakker, "Wow, they burrow under the ground? That's pretty impressive if they want to escape predators. Kinda like Prarie Dogs of the US." he said.

"Indeed it does, though only protects them from larger predator...they are a favored prey for Bambiraptor, but they can be safe from other predators". says Bakker. "Well, as much as I would like to watch these little guys, we should get moving...it will be dark soon". "We will need to cut through a small section of forest, so we may have to tread with caution". The two then move on, knowing that they will be getting close to the safety of the rock shelter. They soon reach the small forest section that Bakker talked about earlier and there is a small stream-bed that they can get a drink of water from.

Nigel nods as he follows Bakker through the forest he mentioned. He reaches a fresh water stream & scooped up some in his cantine, the water was really clear, meaning it was safe to drink. Then, as they move through the forest, Nigel hears small growls & shrieking, seeing small, feathered dinosaurs briefly, only these were predators, "Robert, stop." he whispered, stopping & looks around, seeing another glimpse of the predator, turning back to Bakker, "I keep getting glimpses of small, fast moving dinosaurs in the vegetation along the creek. & I think it's a pack of hunting Velociraptors. I don't know what they're hunting-" he whispered to Bakker as another one rushes by the 2. Nigel & Bakker soon found out their hunch was right. Moving through the trees & bushes, their were 6 or 7 Velociraptors.

Bakker sees the pack of Velociraptors communicating with one another. "These are small predators, but such a group can be pretty lethal, even to an animal that is twenty-five feet in length" whispers Bakker. "I remember when a Cape buffalo somehow wandered into the reserve and a pack Velociraptor's just like these surrounded it". "There was probably eleven of these small predators attacking the buffalo and after an hour or so, they brought the animal down, losing only three members of the pack".

Nigel hears Bakker's small story of a Cape Buffalo being killed by Velociraptors, "Seems they're not interested in us, thank goodness. I think they're stalking bigger prey." Nigel whispered as the 2 quietlly followed the pack. & soon, they spot what they were after. A male Protoceratops who was badlly wounded already. Soon, the raptors attack as one leaps on its side & uses its hand claws to slice the prey & leaps off then the same thing happens on the other side. "Reminds me of a pack of African Wild Dogs in action, they attack repeatinglly. Weather it's the raptors or dogs, the end result is the same. The prey dies of shock & blood loss." whispered Nigel. As one raptor went for an attack, its arm was snapped by the jaw of the Protoceratops. Then as soon as the hunt began, it's over in a matter of seconds as the raptors finally bring down the Protoceratops & begin feasting on it.
